Bobcats and Basic Electric Partner for Seventh Annual Brave the Shave Night
BISMARCK, ND – When the Bismarck Bobcats face the archrival Minot Minotauros at the VFW Sports Center on Friday, it will not just be a battle for first place in the Central Division: the Cats will also be doing their part to battle pediatric cancer with their seventh annual Brave the Shave Night.
“We are thrilled to join together with the Basin Electric Power Cooperative again this season for Brave the Shave Night as we take the fight to childhood cancer in North Dakota,” expressed Bobcats owner and CEO Thom Brigl, whose team has been a part of Basin Electric’s Brave the Shave efforts since 2010. “This year we are excited to not only continue our fundraising efforts during the game, but also to have a special experience for families touched by cancer around the region.”
For the annual event, the Bobcats will have 10-20 children from around North Dakota whose lives have been affected by pediatric cancer—including siblings of Landon LaVallie, a friend of the Bobcats who passed away in June 2015 at age five—on the ice, participating with Bobcat and Minotauro players as part of the pre-game festivities.
During the game, the Cats will be wearing the sixth edition of their special Brave the Shave jerseys, all of which will be auctioned following the contest with proceeds going the Sanford Hospital Children’s Wing and Sanford Cancer to help their fight against childhood cancer, as well.
As has been the team’s custom since 2010 to show support for kids affected by cancer and to help raise awareness, head coach and general manager Layne Sedevie will be getting his head shaved by stylists from Great Clips at center ice during the first intermission, followed after the game by nine players: co-captains Cole Souto and Joe Tyran, along with Oskars Batna, Jared Pike, Jordan Fralich, Jared Resseguie, Nick Alexander, Solag Bakich and Parker Mismash.
