Bobcats Acquire Sardina from Brown Bears
BISMARCK, ND – Just four days ahead of Coors Light Opening Night, the Bismarck Bobcats announced Tuesday they have completed a trade with the Kenai River Brown Bears, acquiring forward Nick Sardina in exchange for future considerations.
Sardina, 19, played the previous two NAHL seasons with the Brown Bears, amassing 17 goals and 19 assists in that time. He was Kenai River’s leading scorer in 2015-16.
“When you look at how young our team is going to be this year, we’re happy to be able to add a veteran presence like Joey,” explained Bobcats head coach and general manager Layne Sedevie.
A native of Red Oak, Tex., Sardina was selected to the 2016 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, playing for Team Midwest at the league’s annual all-star summit.
Earlier in the offseason, the Bobcats also traded for Austin Junger—Sardina’s teammate with the Brown Bears a season ago.
On the ice, the Bobcats turn their attention to Coors Light Opening Night on Saturday, where they’ll face the Aberdeen Wings to open their 20th season of hockey in Bismarck-Mandan.
Fans can buy and print tickets online 24 hours a day at BismarckBobcats.com or charge-by-phone at 222-3300.
