Bobcat Legend Named Warriors First Head Coach
Bismarck, ND – Bobcats Associate Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Garrett Roth has been named the head coach for the Wichita Falls Warriors.
“The Bismarck Bobcats want to congratulate Garrett on being hired as the new head coach of the Wichita Falls Warriors,” said Bobcats owner Thom Brigl. “We will miss him and his million dollar smile, but I am very happy for him.”
“I’ve worked with Garrett for most of my head coaching career,” said Bobcats Head Coach Layne Sedevie.” What he has meant to me as a coach and friend is the most important part. He came to work every day and wanted to make our kids better. Thats what you want as a head coach and that is something he brings to the table.”
Roth spent eight years on staff with Bismarck, working with Bobcats Head Coach Layne Sedevie to build a successful culture. He played with the Bobcats from 2001 to 2003, ranking first all time in franchise history in goals (70) and points (156). His 86 assists rank second, tied with 2019-20 Bobcats co-captain Adam Stacho.
“I have known and loved having Garrett as part of the team,” Brigl said. “He has a bright coaching future and I am proud to have watched him grow as a coach and person in order to have created this opportunity for himself, his wife Lauren and his son Jaxon. Garrett will not be a stranger, as he has called Bismarck-Mandan his home. Once a Bobcat, always a Bobcat.”
“He makes kids better and that’s our job,” Sedevie said. “It’s a lot to ask of a guy to work that long with you, but it shows his loyalty and what he thought of this program as a player and a coach. I’m going to miss him, but he’s gonna do a great job, he’s ready and there is nobody more deserving. He wants to be a head coach and dip his toes into that side of it, and it’s well deserved. I want to wish him the best of luck.”
