Bobcats Deal for Bottineau Native Longie

BISMARCK, ND – The Bismarck Bobcats have acquired defenseman Cody Longie in a trade with the Kenai River Brown Bears in exchange for a 2015 draft pick.

Longie, 19, is a native of Bottineau, North Dakota. He played last season with the Fargo Force of the USHL, scoring one goal and adding five assists along the Force’s blue line.

“Cody is a player that we are familiar with from his high school days in Bottineau,” remarked Bobcats head coach Layne Sedevie, who is set to enter his fifth season behind the Cats’ bench, “so we were very excited to have an opportunity to bring him in. He brings a good level of experience and skill to our young defense.”

During his junior year with Bottineau/Rugby, he posted an impressive 63 points (26g, 37a), good for third overall in the state. He trailed only Braves teammate Harrison Aide and Century defender Alec Rauhauser—both of whom join Longie on the Bobcats’ 2014-15 protected list—in points.

Longie and the rest of the Bobcats report Sunday for Training Camp, which begins Monday with the Cats’ famous “Hell Week” conditioning program.

The Bobcats will open the 2014-15 campaign on September 17 against the Soo Eagles at the Easton NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minn., with Coors Light Opening Night to follow on September 27 as the Cats host the Austin Bruins in a rematch of the last three Central Division Finals.

With the 2014-15 season arriving soon, demand for season tickets is at an all-time high; fans who want to lock in their seats for the entire campaign should call the Bobcat office at 222-3300 today!
