Four Bobcats earn Top Prospects Nod

FRISCO, TX – When the 2013 Top Prospects Tournament kicks off in February, the Bismarck Bobcats will be represented by four players as forwards Adam Knochenmus and Patrick Moore, defenseman Jeremy O’Keefe and goaltender Aaron Nelson will skate for “Team Dakota” in Troy, Mich.

Team Dakota, comprising the Bobcats, Austin Bruins, Minot Minotauros, Brookings Blizzard and Aberdeen Wings—the same five franchises that represented Team Central at the 2012 Top Prospects Tournament—is one of six teams that will participate in the league’s annual all-star summit.

“It’s an honor to be picked to a team that represents so many good teams and good players,” noted O’Keefe, a Bobcat assistant captain who is in his second year out of Grand Forks Central High School. “I’m looking forward to sharing such a great opportunity with Adam, Patty and Aaron.”

Up front, Knochenmus and Moore lead the Cats offensively, with 38 and 37 points in 38 games, respectively. O’Keefe is a veteran leader on the defensive blue line—leading the team in blocked shots—while Nelson, the only 1993 birth year among Bobcat Top Prospects, leads all NAHL goalies in GAA at 1.72 and is second league-wide in SV% with a .937 mark.

On the bench, Bobcats head coach and general manager Layne Sedevie will serve as assistant coach to Austin’s Chris Tok as Team Dakota attempts to defend the tournament title that Team Central secured by going 3-0 at the 2012 event.

Regular season action continues Wednesday for the Cats as they pay a one-off visit to Brookings for a 7:00 PM contest to open a four-game road swing.

Wednesday’s contest will be broadcast locally on the radio home of Bobcat Hockey, Super Talk 1270, KLXX-AM, and worldwide on the official internet television partner of the NAHL, FASTHockey, at http://nahl.fasthockey.com.  Pregame coverage gets under way at 6:30 PM.
