BISMARCK, ND–The NAHL will be on display Tuesday night in Dickinson, ND, as the Bismarck Bobcats and the Minot Minotauros meet for an exhibition matchup at the Dickinson Recreation Center.
The game is, in part, a fundraiser for Dickinson youth hockey, and, in part, an opportunity to show the community the quality of NAHL hockey in the hopes that the league could possibly expand in western North Dakota.
"We continue to believe Dickinson would be a good market for an NAHL team, and certainly a good rival for the teams in the Dakotas," said Bismarck Bobcats owner and CEO Thom Brigl Monday. "Much like in Aberdeen and Minot, we are bringing the show to Dickinson to show the community the value of junior hockey as great entertainment."
"The product is of particular value to a community’s youth, as junior hockey players are in the community helping out quite a bit," added Brigl.
Four of the five teams in the NAHL’s Central Division are in North and South Dakota. Bismarck’s franchise, the Bobcats, as the most longevity of those, joining the NAHL in 2004. All of the teams in the Dakota’s are showing promise, indicating expansion in the area may be in order.
Both the Bobcats and Minotauros are playing well as they entertain Dickinson. Bismarck swept first-place Austin this past weekend, while Minot swept then second-place Aberdeen to win their sixth straight game.
Faceoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $11.00 for adults, $8.00 for youth, and $9.00 for seniors and members of the military, and can be purchased at the Dickinson Recreation Center, including at the door Tuesday night.
