BISMARCK, N.D.–The North American Hockey League named Bismarck Bobcats forward Evan Hunter the central division star of the week on Monday.
The 18-year-old forward from Appleton, Wis. was crucial in the Bobcats’ sweep in Aberdeen over the weekend. Hunter recorded four goals and two assists in the series, including his first career junior hat trick on Saturday.
“Evan had a great weekend for us on the road to get his team back on track,” head coach Layne Sedevie told the NAHL. “His ability to score big goals this past weekend and his playmaking all over the ice is the reason he is having success and is effective every time he is on the ice.”
Hunter comes to the Bobcats after spending last season with the USHL’s Chicago Steel. After scoring only one goal in 27 games in 2021-22, he currently leads the Bobcats in scoring through six games with five goals and nine points.
Defenseman Michael Neumeier received second star honors for his performance in the sweep. Neumeier racked up six points as well, with two goals and four assists. It was the Kerrobert, Sask. native’s most productive offensive series of his Bobcats career.
Hunter, Neumeier, and the Bobcats are gearing up for the 26th home opener in franchise history on Saturday, October 1. Bismarck and Minot face off at 7:15 p.m. Get your tickets today at www.bismarckbobcats.com.
