BISMARCK, N.D.–The Bismarck Bobcats, proud member of the North American Hockey League, are pleased to announce it has signed Jack Kernan to a tender agreement for the 2023-24 season.
Kernan, a 17-year-old forward from Maple Grove, Minn. is one of Maple Grove high school’s top scorers with 25 points in 13 games this season.
“Jack is a speedy forward who makes plays all over the rink,” Niko Kapetanovic, Bobcats’ head scout, said. “His feet and brain make it very hard for other teams to defend him. His production this year does not surprise me as he is relentless every shift.”
Kernan had secondhand knowledge of what the Bismarck Bobcats organization is all about before ever signing with the team, too. Older brother Chris played 24 games with the Bobcats last season. He is now with the Wisconsin Windigo, being coached by former Bobcat player Blake Hietala.
“Playing in a very successful Maple Grove program, Jack will bring a winning mentality to the Bobcats,” Kapetanovic said.
A tender agreement is a contract giving a North American Hockey League team the rights to a player for the upcoming season. If a tendered player decides to join the NAHL, he would join the Bobcats. Tendered players who joined this year’s squad include Julian Beaumont, Ian Engel, and Nick Baer.
