Catching up with the Cats: Chase Beacom

Feb 13, 2025

If you ask any Bobcat fan over the last few years about Chase Beacom, a smile will immediately come to their face. He was an integral part of the Bobcats for the last four seasons. Beacom is the all-time leader in games played for the Bobcats with 225 contests in a Bismarck uniform. Beacom cherishes his time with the organization and holds the team and organization close to his heart. “To me, it [Bismarck] means everything. I spent four years of my life there, that’s a long time. My host family took me in the first day and they were unreal to me. They were a great family and kept me fed, which is a bonus,” joked Beacom. “The community was unbelievable to me. I think that’s something you get in Bismarck that’s not matched with other junior teams,” he added.

Over the course of those 4 seasons, Beacom was a part of many locker rooms. He made many memories between road trips, sold out VFW crowds, to playoff atmospheres, but one stuck out above them all. “Wins and losses go to the back of your brain, you don’t remember them too much, but the things you remember are all the relationships you made with your teammates, the staff. The game that was most memorable to me was the Cancer Awareness Night for children. That was a very big impact that we made for other families in raising money, but also hits home, because my mom had cancer, and for many people on the team like Patrick Johnson and his family, Kate, who’s an unbelievable warrior,” Beacom said.

Beacom is attending Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota, about 25 minutes away from his hometown of Bloomington. He has 1 goal to go along with 12 assists for a total of 13 points in 22 contests.

Beacom has been keeping a close eye on this Bobcat team throughout the year, noting their success. He’s got a lot of former teammates on the team and gave some advice to the guys heading into the home stretch of the season and eventually the playoffs. “If there’s a game that you’re down, you’ve got to have confidence in yourself, the coaches, they’ve got it under control. Put your trust in them. Ultimately, you’ve got one goal and that’s to win the game, and the bigger picture, which is the Robertson Cup. I’m really hoping to see them pull that off, and watch them down the stretch,” Beacom mentioned.
