Divisional Implications Loom as Cats Host Chill

Feb 23, 2011

BISMARCK, ND – The Bismarck Bobcats will close out the month of February with a big two-game series against the Coulee Region Chill Friday and Saturday nights at the VFW Sports Center.

Coming into the weekend, the Bobcats (27-15-4, 58 pts) sit one point behind the Chill (27-15-5, 59 pts) for second place and just two points behind the first place Owatonna Express (27-17-6, 60 pts) heading into the final month of the regular season. The Cats have one game in hand on the Chill and four games in hand over the Express.

The Bobcats are 3-2-0 in five games against the Chill, against whom they split a two-game series at the Omni Center last Friday and Saturday.

Coulee Region—the Central’s top offense—is led up front by red-hot forward Connor Gaarder, who has six goals and seven assists in his last eight games and 55 total points on the year.

Goaltender Ryan Faragher anchors the Bobcats—the Central’s top defense—in net with a division-best 2.30 goals against average and a .920 SV% that is second in the Central only to Owatonna’s Charlie Williams (.921).

This weekend’s set will close out the season series between the two sides with four weeks of games remaining. If either team can gain a standings advantage from the series, they will have the inside track on the top spot as each side has a significant games-in-hand advantage over the frontrunning Express.

The series opens Friday at 7:15 PM at the VFW Sports Center with Saturday’s game to follow at the same time. After Saturday’s game, fans are invited to stay after for “Skate With The Bobcats!”

Friday’s contest will be broadcast locally on the radio home of Bobcat Hockey, Super Talk 1270, KLXX-AM, and worldwide at http://nahl.fasthockey.com/. Pre-game coverage will begin at 6:45 PM CT.
