Forward Walinski Returns to Bobcats
BISMARCK, ND – The Bismarck Bobcats are pleased to announce that they have reacquired forward Mitch Walinski, who played for the Cats during the 2016-17 season.
“Coming back to Bismarck/Mandan to play at the VFW Sports Center just feels like home,” stated Walinski, who rejoined the team for practice on Monday. “It’s a place where I’m happy and can feel comfortable playing the game I love.”
In 25 appearances with the Bobcats in 2016-17 after coming over in a trade from the Minnesota Wilderness, the Lincoln, R.I., native compiled 12 goals and four assists—including an eight-goal, four-assist month of January 2017.
Starting the season with the South Shore Kings, Walinski was in the top 20 of scoring in the NCDC with 17 goals and 14 assists.
“When he was with us last year, Mitch’s skill and attitude shined through for our team,” credited Bobcats head coach and general manager Layne Sedevie. “His play last January helped power one of our best stretches of the entire season and we know that as a player who is a year older and a year stronger he’s capable of even more now.”
Walinski arrives in time for a big road showdown for the Bobcats, who will head to Austin for a two-game Friday and Saturday series against the surging Bruins at Riverside Arena. Both games are scheduled for 7:05pm puck drops.
Live coverage will begin at 6:40pm locally on Super Talk 1270 AM, the radio home of Bobcat Hockey, and worldwide on HockeyTV.com, the official web television partner of the North American Hockey League.
