Marketing, Sales & Game Operations Internship
Description:
The marketing, sales & game operations internship provides a unique opportunity for the intern to not only receive hands-on experience in putting on Bobcats games but also to gain valuable sales experience while earning commissions on any sales accounts they secure. Marketing, sales & game ops interns report to the general manager and the team owner.
Internship Responsibilities:
- Prospecting sales leads and turning them into accounts
- Communicating with media team to execute corporate accounts in a timely manner
- Assisting with individual/group/season ticket sales as necessary
- Managing online donation requests
- Managing online appearance requests
- Working with media team to create & execute ticket marketing plans including community nights, fundraisers, promotional nights, etc.
- Assist hosts with corporate nights
- Creating a stable of rotating games/activities to be played on-ice during intermissions
- Administer intermission games, including selecting contestants and wrangling participants before and after
Internship Requirements:
- Be eligible to receive high school, undergraduate or grad school credit for your work
- Housing and transportation in Bismarck/Mandan or surrounding area
- Working nights and weekends during games plus office hours
- Motivated self-starter with strong communication and organizational skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office is preferred
- A winning attitude and strong people skills
Media Internship
Description:
The media internship provides extensive hands-on experience with the inner workings of the NAHL’s premier team-run media effort. Media interns will participate in the team’s graphic design, video production, social media and in-game production; media interns will also have the opportunity to participate in the Bobcats’ radio/web television game broadcasts. Media interns report to the director of broadcasting and media.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting in creating advertisements for print and online publication, including posters and social media graphic assets
- Assisting sales team in executing advertisements for corporate clients in a timely manner
- Shooting video for production on non-game days, with both HD video cameras and cell phone cameras including live videos on platforms like Facebook Live, Instagram, Periscope and YouTube
- Editing short videos for social media and in-game use
- Creating content during games on real-time social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc)
- Managing and updating graphics and videos for in-house screens for home games
- Participate in the Bobcats’ radio/web TV broadcast as a reporter or intermission host (home and away, voluntary)
- Other duties as assigned
Internship Requirements:
- Be eligible to receive high school, undergraduate or grad school credit for your work
- Housing and transportation in Bismarck/Mandan or surrounding area
- Working nights and weekends during home and away games plus office hours
- Working knowledge of hockey
- Their own laptop PC to work from (graphics/video editing software is preferred but team will provide to interns who do not have software)
- Be able to take & follow editorial direction on content
- Be able to create online content in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite 5 (or later) is preferred but not required
- Strong communication & organizational skills
Hockey Operations InternshipDescription:
The hockey operations internship provides hands-on experience in the day-to-day management of a hockey team alongside a veteran coaching staff, including practice, game day and event preparation for the team throughout a 60-game season. The Hockey Ops intern reports to the coaching staff.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare benches and equipment for daily practices
- Maintain locker room tidiness
- Handling team laundry following games and during the week
- Prepare locker room for home games, including jerseys
- Assist with skate sharpening prior to practices and during games
- Assist with travel arrangements, including those of visiting teams
- Assist with compiling video clips for film scouting
- Assist in organizing tryout camp enrollments
- Other duties as assigned by coaching staff
Internship Requirements:
- Be working toward an undergraduate or graduate degree or be a recent graduate with a relevant degree
- Housing and transportation in the Bismarck/Mandan or surrounding area
- Working nights and weekends during games plus mornings Tuesday through Thursday
- Strong knowledge of hockey
- Ability to sharpen skates
- Strong communication & organizational skills
