BISMARCK, N.D.–Two Bismarck Bobcats will represent the central division at the North American Hockey League’s 2023 Top Prospects Tournament.
Patrick Johnson (Chesterfield, Mo.) and Calvin Hanson (Hallock, Minn.) will participate in the annual event, held at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry Township, Pa. on February 6 and 7.
Johnson is the Bobcats’ assists and points leader in the 2022-23 season. The second-year captain makes his first trip to Top Prospects.
Hanson has been Bismarck’s hottest goal scorer in the last two months, with nine goals in that span. The speedy winger has 23 points in 33 games, fourth on the team.
The Top Prospects Tournament is an all-star event for players without college commitments. Players are selected by their team’s coaches, and all 29 teams will be represented.
The extra exposure can have great results. Last season, forward Quinn Rudrud shined with a two-goal game at the tournament and committed to Division I Alaska-Fairbanks not long after.
Johnson and Hanson will participate in two games, both of which can be streamed live on HockeyTV.
