BISMARCK, ND – Bismarck Bobcats captain Luke Roelofs has announced his commitment to Bemidji State University.
A Division I program located in Bemidji, Minnesota, BSU competes in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.
“Luke has dedicated 3 years to this program on the ice and off the ice,” Bobcats head coach Layne Sedevie said. “His ability on the ice and his leadership skills are everything a coach wants. I couldn’t be more happy for Luke to get what he has worked so hard for.”
Roelofs’ next game will be the 130th of his career in a Bobcats uniform. The Minnetrista, Minnesota, native has tallied 5 points through 15 games this season.
Roelofs becomes the eighth current Bobcat to announce a Division I commitment, and second to Bemidji State. He will join fellow teammate Evan Hunter at BSU.
Bismarck’s Jakub Kopecky (St. Lawrence), Stephen Peck (Michigan), Landon Fandel (Northern Michigan), Patrick Johnson (Robert Morris), Matthew Rafalski (Lindenwood), and Ben Miller (Northeastern) have previously announced their plans to compete at the highest collegiate level.
Bemidji State, also the alma mater of Sedevie, has qualified for five NCAA Division I Tournaments and one Frozen Four in program history. Founded in 1919, the school enrolls approximately 6,000 undergraduates, offering 47 areas of study.
