Bobcat Forward Makes Division I Decision
Bismarck, ND – The Bismarck Bobcats are pleased to announce that forward Lars Rødne has officially committed to play Division I college hockey at Niagara University.
“There was no doubt I was going to take that offer,” Rødne said. “I’m really pumped to be a Purple Eagle.”
Rødne, 20, has three goals and two assists in seven games with the Bobcats this season. He posted 20 goals and 17 assists for 37 points in 43 games last season in Bismarck, where his 20 goals tied for the team lead.
“From day one since he’s come to our program, he’s been a difference maker for us,” said Bobcats head coach Layne Sedevie. “I’m glad that it’s been rewarding for him with the path that he’s taken, and I’m just excited for him and the opportunity he’s been given.”
Rødne, a native of Stavanger, Norway, had four points in five games for Norway at the U20 World Junior Classic Division I level in December of 2019 last season. His four points led Norway at the competition.
“It means a lot, it means the whole world to be here in Bismarck,” Rødne said. “All in all it’s been a smooth process, a long one but I’m happy it worked out.”
“We’ll see what he can do at the next level, but I look forward to watching him play Division I hockey,” Sedevie said. “I’m just happy he’s been given the opportunity to play college hockey.”
