BISMARCK, ND–For the third time in four weeks, a Bismarck Bobcat has claimed an NAHL award.
Huba Sekesi (Munich, Germany) claimed the NAHL Central Division Easton Star of the Week award for his four-point weekend that led the Bobcats to a sweep of the Minot Minotauros and a share of first place in the division.
Sekesi tallied on the power-play Friday night at the VFW Center in Bismarck, a goal that was the eventual game-winner in the Bobcats 3-1 win. He then assisted two opening-period goals and scored what would again be the game-winner in the second, as the Bobcats posted a 5-2 victory.
Sekesi doubled his seasonal point output this weekend, and how has four goals and four assists this season. He as also impressed head coach Layne Sedevie with his work ethic all year. "I can’t say enough about Huba and his start this year. It has been huge for us to get that type of caliber of player on the team. He has great skill and good size and they go hand in hand in his success," remarked Sedevie Monday.
Bobcat goalie Aaron Nelson (Bismarck, ND) claimed the Central’s Star of the Week award last week, with 67 saves in a split with Brookings, and also won the award after stopping 65 of 69 shots in a pair of wins over Aberdeen October 4th and 5th.
Two Bobcat wins, coupled with Saturday losses by Aberdeen and Austin, have pushed Bismarck (9-3-0) to 20 points and a share of first place with the Bruins. Aberdeen, the next opponent for the Bobcats, has 19 points.
The Bobcats travel to Aberdeen Friday night, with faceoff scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Pregame broadcast coverage on Supertalk 1270 KLXX, the official broadcast home of the Bobcats, begins at 6:50 p.m.
