Bobcats Goalie Goes 2-0-0 With A Shutout to Win Award
Bismarck, ND – Bobcats goaltender Ryan Ullan has been named the NAHL Central Division Star of the Week.
Ullan won his first two starts of the season at the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota. He collected his first shutout of the year on Saturday against Fairbanks, a 4-0 Bobcats win.
“He made a lot of tough saves look routine,” said Bobcats head coach and general manager Layne Sedevie. “That’s when you can tell you have a good goaltender.”
He stopped 17 of 18 shots in the season opener for the Bobcats, a 5-1 win over the New Mexico Ice Wolves.
“I wanted to do whatever I could to help the team get the win,” Ullan said. “I couldn’t do it without the team. (But) we have to come back this week with the home opener and focus on that.”
Ullan also made 15 saves in relief against Lone Star on Friday.
The Hibbing, Minnesota native entered the year 12-12-2 in his career with the ‘Cats, with every game coming in the 2017-18 season in Bismarck. He is committed to Northern Michigan University.
The Bobcats return home to play the Minnesota Wilderness on Friday, September 23 in Bismarck’s home opener. Tickets are on sale now.
