Bobcats Leading Scorer Finalizes College Decision
Bismarck, ND – Bobcats forward Will Hillman has officially committed to play college hockey at Minnesota State.
“It’s hard to put into words something this big to me,” Hillman said. “I’ve wanted to go there for so long, it’s a great fit and I’m ready to be part of the Maverick family.”
The Blaine, Minnesota native currently leads the NAHL in goals with 10 tallies in 10 games. His 12 points rank second on the Bobcats.
“He’s got great hockey sense, he’s a big body, he protects pucks, he competes,” said Sedevie. “That’s the reason he will have really good success at the next level.”
Hillman is the second Bobcat to commit this season after Austin Schwartz committed to Air Force in September. Both players will be playing Division I hockey in their home states.
“That’s what we’re trying to do, get these kids opportunities at the next level.” said Bobcats head coach and general manager Layne Sedevie. “I think it’s well deserved. Look what he’s done with his start of the year.”
“The game and the coaching staff [in Bismarck] sped up my thinking process,” Hillman said. “To play more like a man.”
Hillman and the Bobcats return home to play the Minot Minotauros on Friday, November 1 in a home-and-home series. Tickets are on sale now.
