Defenseman Commits to Purple Eagles
Bismarck, ND – The Bismarck Bobcats are pleased to announce that defenseman Jonathan Ziskie has officially committed to play Division I college hockey at Niagara University.
“They reached out to me last year and they followed me to Fargo, and in Bismarck they reached out again and gave me an offer,” Ziskie said. “I looked into it, it’s a great school, close to home and it’s a great place to play because of the opportunity. It’s a place I can be dominant and that’s what I want to do for myself.”
Ziskie, 19, is tied for the team lead in points among defenseman this season with three. His two goals are tied for second on the team and leads all Bobcat defenseman.
“Jonny is a great skater with great feet, he’s very mobile,” said Bobcats head coach Layne Sedevie. “That’s one of the big reasons why he’ll have success at the next level.”
Ziskie is the second Bobcat to commit this season, and also the second Bobcat to commit to Niagara. Forward Lars Rødne committed to play for the Purple Eagles just one week before.
“Bismarck has felt like home ever since I’ve arrived here,” Ziskie said. “I really enjoy it here, it’s a great place to play. All the guys, the coaches, they’ve meant a lot to me. I really love the city, it’s small but it’s home.”
“He’s got great stick skills and can really shoot the puck,” Sedevie said. “Just an all-around, solid defenseman.”
